There are basically two types of life insurance:

•  Term Life Insurance is life insurance for a specified term with no cash value.  Term Life is available for as short as one year and can be purchased for as long as 30 years.  Some companies offer Return of Premium Term.  We even have a company that offers Instant Issue Term, which is issued in our office.  Most term life policies start at $100,000 death benefit, however, there are a few companies that will go below that.  We shop ALL the major carriers for you to find the best price for your dollar.

•  Permanent Life Insurance is usually for the rest of your life and may have a cash value.  Permanent life insurance consists of:

  • Universal Life
  • Indexed Universal Life
  • Whole Life

Universal life can be more flexible and may provide better cash value than whole life.  Universal life polices have a higher initial death benefit but some start as low as $50,000.  Many of the newer universal life policies today offer guaranteed coverage beyond age 100.

Whole life usually grows slightly slower in cash value than universal life with less risk.  Some whole life policies can be issued for as little as $2,000 death benefit.

Do you need life insurance?

Absolutely.  We believe everyone should at least have a small whole life policy to help offset funeral expenses.  Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and death is a guaranteed certainty.
I already have insurance at work.

Great!  However, most businesses provide term insurance through work and it ends when your employment ends and it rarely provides enough coverage to protect your family from the financial crisis that will be forced upon them in the event of your death.  Be sure to provide the details of this coverage to one of our agent when discussing your life insurance needs.
How much life insurance do I need?

There are several different ideas on how much life insurance a person should have and you can find various worksheets and formulas that are usually pretty similar but can vary greatly in results.  Don't let these calculators scare you.  Make an appointment with one of our life insurance agents to help find the right amount for you and your family.
What type of insurance is right for me?

No two situations are alike and depending on your situation you may require a mix of policies and possibly even some Estate Planning.  One of our agents can help find the right mix to best suit the needs of you and your family.
